Transforming Health Care for Veterans, Revolutionizing Health Care for All

VA is transitioning to a new electronic health record (EHR) system — the software that stores health information and tracks all aspects of patient care. The Federal EHR connects VA medical facilities with the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and participating community care providers, allowing clinicians to easily access a Veteran’s full medical history in one location. The VA EHRM Integration Office manages deployment of the new system.

When is VA launching the new system?

The Federal EHR is currently in use at six VA medical centers (VAMCs), 25 associated clinics, and 104 remote services (such as VA call centers, consolidated patient accounting centers, clinical resource hubs, and the like, which support the medical centers and clinics).
