Expanding Access to VA

More Veterans than ever are turning to VA for their health care and benefits, and amid a record-breaking year for enrollment, more Veterans are accessing these services online. From their very first interaction, digital tools like the highly rated VA Health and Benefits mobile app and VA.gov are making VA access faster, easier, and more inclusive. These tools are VA’s Digital Front Door for the services Veterans have earned, and for the world-class customer experience they deserve.

With over 2.28 million VA Health and Benefits mobile app downloads and over 17.8 million monthly visitors on VA.gov, more Veterans than ever are accessing VA care wherever they are. Take a look at how these tools are often the first interaction that Veterans and their families have with VA in our latest video, Digital Front Door: Expanding Access to VA.

The Office of Information and Technology (OIT) is creating convenient and accessible solutions to ensure Veterans can access comprehensive care with unparalleled ease. By integrating technological advancements across the Department, VA has been equipped to support a record number of Veteran enrollments following the passage of the PACT Act.

“Our goal is to get these Veterans connected … help them file their claims, so in the future if something does come up, they’re squared away,” explains Jaime Betancur, Outreach Coordinator at VA Palo Alto Healthcare System.

As more Veterans turn to VA for health care and benefits, VA’s technologies are eliminating barriers posed by ability or distance. Whether we’re working alongside Veterans on usability testing, working with Blind Rehabilitation Centers to develop mobility and navigation aids, or reducing wait times and improving care for rural veterans through telehealth, Digital Front Door also illustrates VA’s commitment to going beyond compliance.
