VA’s TBM Odyssey – The Dawn of Transparency

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is charged with providing health, benefits and memorial services to Veterans across 172 VA Medical Centers 56 Regional Benefits Offices and over 140 National Cemeteries. VA has an IT budget exceeding $7B in spend and more than 16,000 government and contract personnel to ensure that VA has the IT tools and services needed. Prior to the Federal mandate for Technology Business Managment (TBM), the VA team quickly realized the benefits of TBM and rolled out use cases spanning different organizations, leadership teams and appropriations from TCO on Apps to Products, fully recoverable chargeback and costing of shared services.
