The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information and Technology (OIT) actively recruits individuals who excel in delivering technologies and services to improve the Veteran experience. Recently, two technology all-stars joined VA to help OIT achieve its vision to become a world-class organization that provides a seamless, unified Veteran experience using state-of-the-art technology.

U.S. Air Force Veteran Vicki Michetti is the new Chief of Staff and Director of Cybersecurity Program Integration for OIT’s Office of Information Security (OIS).  In this role, Ms. Michetti is the senior cybersecurity advisor to Paul Cunningham, OIT’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Information Security and Chief Information Security Officer. Before joining VA, she worked for the Department of Defense (DOD) delivering cybersecurity policies, strategies, and metrics in the Office of the DOD Chief Information Officer and leading the DoD’s cybersecurity partnership with the Defense Industrial Base. Her focus at VA is on repeatable business and security processes to ensure OIS continues to be more responsive and resilient especially when a crisis occurs. “The VA is an outstanding place to work,” she says. “Whether you are an IT practitioner, defender, or policy maker, VA has an opportunity for you.”

Ric Miller joined OIT in May 2020 working for Chief Technology Officer Charles Worthington. Mr. Miller has 20 years of experience in the federal government and related private sector industries including health care, government, and technology start-ups. He has held numerous senior management and advisory roles including co-founder and director of operations at 18F, an office within the General Services Administration that collaborates with agencies to fix technical problems, build products, and improve how government serves the public through technology. “I am honored to join an agency that is deeply committed to taking care of the Veterans who have taken care of us and our country,” he said. “I connected immediately to the Office of the CTO’s digital modernization vision for giving our Veterans—and their families and care teams—a voice in the process of improving how they access and manage their well-earned benefits.”
