The t:connect Diabetes Management Application developed by Tandem allows medical staff to easily access patient diabetes readings such as glucose, etc. The information is downloaded during office visits from the patient’s Tandem Diabetes Care insulin pump and specified blood glucose meters (which they have to bring with them). The information is displayed in easy-to-read charts and graphs to show progress between appointments and offer guidance for ongoing treatment.
Patients bring their insulin pumps to their appointments at VA facilities. Medical staff then upload their data from the pump into their VA workstation using t:connect software. Providers will be able to generate analytical reports from current and past blood glucose trends. By being able to analyze detailed records, VA medical staff can provide improved diabetes management for the patient.
For SaaS products that do not contain VA-owned data*, there is now an expedited process that does not require a traditional VA authority to operate (ATO). Criteria include the following:

VA providers may not enter any VA information into this product; it must adhere to no VA data standards mentioned above.
