Slack provides a convenient way to communicate with team members. It’s a central hub where people can collaborate by sending direct messages to each other, setting up group channels, sharing documents, and conducting voice and video conference calls.
Slack focuses communications between team members by avoiding the overwhelming deluge of other forms of communication (such as email). When the team collaborates by using Slack, key information never gets lost in the shuffle and productivity is enhanced.
Slack is authorized for authority to operate (ATO) low usage, but it cannot be used to provide protected health information (PHI). Employee workspaces that are not created by VA’s SaaS team may not have the necessary controls in place to utilize Slack, and are not covered by this ATO.
