Glooko is a software application for managing diabetes that puts all the key information onto a simple dashboard to be viewed by patients, coaches, and medical staff. Along with the software, it comes with a blood glucose meter, insulin pump, and provides continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
Glooko simplifies the treatment of diabetes by providing one dashboard where important health information can be reviewed by the patient as well as their medical team (with the patient’s consent). The patient’s glucose levels, and other key information are automatically uploaded from their glucose meter, Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS), insulin pump, and activity tracker.
The information can be viewed on a laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc. It’s an efficient way for the patient and their physician to monitor their readings throughout the day, saving time for both the patient and their medical support team at the Veterans Health Administration.
Glooko does not require an Authority to Operate (ATO) from the Veterans Administration because it does not contain any VA data. Patients can also grant consent to share their data with family members or other third parties in a view only mode.
VA providers may not enter any VA information into this product; it must adhere to no VA data standards mentioned above.
For SaaS products that do not contain VA-owned data*, there is now an expedited process that does not require a traditional VA authority to operate (ATO). Criteria include the following:
