In Product Engineering Service, you will work to improve the usability and functionality of VA’s digital products. Enabling a seamless digital experience for Veterans is our driving force, and our teams deliver digital solutions that meet top VA’s priorities. Some of the work in Product Engineering Service includes harnessing data analytics, delivering modern Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) tools, as well as custom code solutions across VA. Your skills and experience can help design, develop, and implement innovative IT solutions like these that meet the needs and expectations of VA’s customers and stakeholders.

Some of our latest work

  • Established an intake center for handling a record influx of new Veteran health care claims due to the expansion of Veteran health care eligibility for conditions related to toxic substance exposure — the largest expansion of Veteran health care benefits in history.
  • Curating a list of Top-50 unmet Veteran needs to drive strategic transformation and modernization of software development processes, and tailor emerging trends to plan innovative, commercial-level solutions, strategy, and security.
  • Enhancing VA’s Software as a Service (SaaS) and low-code implementation efforts within the Digital Transformation Center.  This effort resulted in 38 new SaaS products, 40 new PaaS products, and 402 re-uses of existing products across the enterprise.
  • Committing to providing seamless Veteran interactions by connecting Veteran and employee-facing solutions with authoritative master data to remove friction from the Veteran experience and build trust with the Veteran community.
  • Managing VA’s Application Platform Interface (API) platform – CODE VA. These digital tools and infrastructure allow for easier building and development activities while also reducing costs and time spent on customized applications.
  • Emphasizing a focus on the Veteran Experience Services Portfolio to build resilient offerings that anticipate and meet Veteran needs across the enterprise, from profile information to benefit enrollment, to data collection through an integrated data architecture providing a 360-degree view of the Veteran’s experience, from active service through Veteran status—a first in government.
  • Reducing the time to certify IT-related security controls, referred to as an Authority to Operate, by 400% while simultaneously increasing security, transparency, and compliance as the first civilian federal agency to obtain approval for continuous Authority to Operate
