The Office of the Chief Technology Officer partners with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care and service providers to understand Veteran needs and fill gaps in technology. We use agile development to deliver the right solutions quickly and iteratively, focusing on problem-solving and human-centered design.
Our office also helps Office of Information and Technology (OIT) and VA enrich the Veteran experience by overseeing implementation of new and emerging tech at VA. Some of this work includes artificial intelligence, machine learning, and application programming interfaces, as well as crafting digital experiences that Veterans love and are a delight to use, such as VA.gov, VA’s digital front door, and the flagship VA Health and Benefits mobile app.
VA’s Office of Information and Technology believes accessibility and inclusive design should be a part of all product design and development conversations, and we engage with Veterans and VA staff early in the design process to ensure we’re addressing actual user needs. Combining Veteran-centric requirements with digital innovation, VA is committed to asking “why not” and “what if” to look at our environment and user needs, identifying unique opportunities to develop experiences and products that put VA information and resources at Veterans fingertips.
