Medical Library Association

The Medical Library Association (MLA) is a global nonprofit educational organization of more than 400 institutions and 3,000 individual members in the health sciences information field, committed to educating health information professionals, supporting health information research, promoting access to the world’s health sciences information, and working to ensure that the best health information is available to all. Library services and quality health information can reduce hospital costs, length of stay, changes in diagnosis and clinical decision-making, and improve patient outcomes.

VA medical librarians use MLA to support the organization in professional learning, improving professional practice, supporting research, and serving patrons. Access to MLA improves the professional practice and leadership of health sciences libraries and information professionals to enhance health care, education, and research worldwide.
