
Dr. Toni Phillips is the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer for the Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office.
Dr. Phillips has centered her nursing career around a legacy of service, respect, trust, and transparency. She has developed and published the methodology to implement standardized nursing documentation tools within the electronic health record and informed the design of enterprise nursing data across the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). She had oversight of the implementation of five commercial software systems across VHA within critical care and anesthesia.
Dr. Phillips is a recipient of the 2020 National VHA High Reliability Hero Award Recipient and the Clinical Academic Achievement Award at the University of Alabama. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association, the American Medical Informatics Association, and the American Nursing Informatics Association. She has authored several publications in the last 10 years that have focused on the standardization of nursing documentation to measure the value of nursing within the electronic health record.
