Alan Greilsamer.

Alan Greilsamer is an executive leader with more than 25 years’ experience in crisis management, strategic communications, and organizational development.

Greilsamer serves as the Senior Executive, Communications, for the Electronic Health Record Modernization program, where he leads enterprise-wide communications for VA’s deployment of the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) system across 170 VA medical facilities. He also serves as a key liaison with external stakeholders, including Congress, the Government Accountability Office, and the VA Office of the Inspector General.

From January 2023 through June 2024, Greilsamer served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer within the VA Office of Information and Technology’s (OIT) Account Management Office managing the health portfolio. Previously, Greilsamer was the Acting OIT Chief of Staff, overseeing organizational communications, business correspondence, and strategic planning.

Prior to joining OIT in 2021, Greilsamer served as the Director of Media Relations for the Veterans Health Administration, leading media relations and executive communications for the under secretary for health, 100 national program offices, and more than 1,300 sites of care.

Greilsamer joined VA in 2012 as the Communications and Training Lead for the VHA Office of Connected Care, directing award-winning public outreach and educational campaigns to promote widespread Veteran and VA clinical staff adoption of VA virtual care modalities, including 40 mobile health apps, telehealth solutions, and the My HealtheVet patient portal. Prior to his federal service, Greilsamer provided strategic communications counsel and organizational development support to not-for-profit organizations within the Veteran, military families, and humanitarian communities in the U.S. and overseas. He lives in Potomac, Maryland, with his wife, Lauren, and son.
