The Centralized Scheduling Solution (CSS) is a new software solution the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will use to make medical appointments more efficient at health care facilities not scheduled for full Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) deployment beyond fiscal year 2024.
CSS will enable VA to transition from its existing scheduling solutions, where schedulers coordinate clinicians, rooms, equipment and calendars across the enterprise manually. With CSS, VA staff will be able to identify and fill no-show appointments in real-time using a single system. CSS also benefits Veterans by optimizing their access to health care with a more efficient online scheduling experience.
CSS is part of VA’s larger EHRM effort, which will enable seamless care among VA, the Department of Defense and community health care providers through the implementation of a new electronic health record (EHR) solution.
